Workshops – Magnatype

As part of our new “Calligraphy for Beginners” programme, we’ve started a series of weekly sessions where we learn and practise a specific calligraphy style from the ground up – from historical scripts to contemporary styles.

Calligraphy is not a test for the prettiest “a”. Here, no one judges your handwriting or leaves red marks. It is a conscious return to working with your hands and letters – an escape from a world full of screens, stimuli, and rush. We focus on what is becoming increasingly difficult in the modern world: concentration, patience, and perseverance. Thanks to this, you will discover the beauty of writing and learn how to recreate it. Practice covers various historical styles, starting with the simplest ones and gradually increasing the difficulty. Afterward, you will discover a world full of creative projects and start experimenting – with no grades, no stress, and no pressure.

Together with DK Sabat, we officially invite both younger and older participants – complete beginners as well as those who have already tried their hand at writing beautiful letters!

The year-round program includes several courses, each focusing on mastering a different writing style. We will work with tools such as brush pens, nibs, fountain pens, etc. We will start with the basics, including hand exercises and drawing basic lines, and finish with original calligraphic compositions. The program will be carried out during the school year. Enrollment is available for individual courses covering a specific style.

Modern calligraphy (Brush Lettering)
Gothic scripts (modern, Textura, Bastarda, Fraktur, etc.)
Slanted scripts (Copperplate script, Polish cursive, decorative cursives)
Business penmanship (Palmer Method)
And other scripts using flexible and broad-edged nibs

In my educational activities, I also run workshops for university students, school children, and at summer events such as day camps, etc. Additionally, I organize one-day workshops and calligraphy events for adults and teenagers, so I encourage you to follow my social media profiles!
